There are a lot of schools in the state of Florida that suffer from lack of attendance and low academic performance. Students are not entirely focused on going to school and getting an education. They would rather miss out and spend their time doing other things. The Children’s Home Society of Florida recognizes this problem and has the Community Partnership School model. This model is the framework that is their solution to getting students to stay in school. Jones Highschool and Evans Highschool will be receiving the Community Partnership School model to improve their academic performance.
Currently, Jones High school students are displaying a history of low attendance. The Community Partnership School model is a multi-layered approach to the problem. The model provides academic, health services, social and cultural enrichment that breaks down the barriers to academic success. Jones High school will be given a director who will be the lynchpin for the Community Partnership and the school. Outcomes of the project will be based on attendance, behavior, and course performance (ABC’s). Meaning the project will see an increase in attendance, decrease in behavioral issues and an increase in academic performance.
