Since Alto Trujillo is not an area that is flourishing like where you and I live, they have to compensate by working different jobs. Young adults and kids have to get special training to learn a skill that can help them land a job. Luckily, there are student at CETPRO who are getting special training to acquire these said skills. One of the training programs teaches young kids and adults on how to use a sewing machine. As a matter of fact, this photo captures a student using a sewing machine. This picture was taken and provided to us by the Ministry of the Good Shepherd inside Alto Trujillo. The young girl in the photo is currently operating one of the many sewing machines given by CETPRO. The young woman is wearing a bright red shirt that has a white oval on it. There are also two half circles on top of the white oval. In addition she is also wearing a pair of earrings that drop down to her neck. Also around the young girls neck is a string of balls which wraps all the way down to her legs. As well as being wrapped down her leg, the balls on the string are many different colors. The colors are yellow, orange, blue and red. Furthermore, the young woman is standing in front of a wall inside of the facility. The wall is made out of bricks and there are a few windows that are right above the wall. In the bottom left hand corner of the photo is the actual sewing machine and it is white in color. Alto Trujillo is a community that is beginning to rise in the sands of the Peruvian coast desert. Approximately, there are around 75,000 people who live here and they don't have the same luxuries that you and I have. In Alto Trujillo, Peru the people have built for themselves humble dwellings that are known as "ranchitos." Furthermore, the 75,000 people in Alto Trujillo struggle to keep their living conditions high so they struggle on a day to day basis. Therefore, mothers can't go to work and help their kids with homework, many of the people don't have the necessary skills to find a job, kids sometimes don't have enough food to eat and stay healthy, and many other problems arise in the community. Together with all of this, it is hard for them to earn a living to improve their condition for the better. Although Alto Trujillo has many problems, The Ministry of the Good Shepherd has many solutions that can solve them.

The Ministry of the Good Shepherd has created Child Care Centers to deal with the problem concerning the children in Alto Trujillo. Over 200 children in Alto Trujillo are cared for in the Child Care Centers. A community kitchen provides the children with a hot meals every day. The centers also act as an after school program that allows the kids to do their homework. In turn, this allows mothers to go to work to provide for their children without worrying about how they are going to help with homework.

In addition, The Ministry of the Good Shepherd has various classes that teach students at CETPRO, who are both young and adults how to do many different things. The classes teach them how to sow, make dresses, hair dress, screen silk, make shoes and many other things to support themselves.

The Sisters of Mercy help The Ministry of the Good Shepherd by providing regular reports. These reports showcase the accomplishments that are being done by the Child Care Centers as well as the students in CETPRO. The ministry of the Good Shepherd continually works with the Sister of Mercy in Peru to provide a better future for Alto Trujillo.
