Established in 2004, Family Matters of Central Florida is a 501c3 non-profit that cares for the needs of local families. They aim to empower families and individuals to help them navigate the many challenges that life will through at them. The individuals as well as the families will be able to find balance, strength, and confidence in their lives.

The Family Matters organization offers counseling and educational support services for local children, families, and the local youth. The organization understands that not everyone one can afford these services, so if they cannot pay, the services are at no cost to them. Their counseling services include workshops for groups, individuals, and parents to promote healthy relationships at home. Depression, self-thoughts, problem-solving, and anger management are some of the topics that are covered.

The individuals who come to Family Matters of Central Florida are sometimes students who struggle academically. With this in mind, Family Matters gives “at risk” and “exceptional education” students tutoring as well as specific instructions. The lessons are specifically constructed to meet the needs of each individual. Family Matters roughly tutors around 80-90 hours per week with 12 tutors. The students can attend up to 3 hours of one-on-one tutoring per week.

Additionally, Family Matters of Central Florida wants to address the emotional & mental health of students in their community. Students when they struggle academically, it sometimes effects their mental and emotional health. It may also cause them to have depression, anxiety, and even self-esteem issues. However, with the help from Family Matters, the students will be able to overcome these obstacles.
